2-METHYLPENTANE, molecular formula C6H14, is a colorless transparent liquid. It is mainly used as solvent, intermediate of organic synthesis and chemical reagent. Steam or fog is irritating to eyes and upper respiratory tract. Irritating to the skin. Burning sensation, cough, wheezing, laryngitis, shortness of breath, headache, nausea and vomiting after exposure. It is also harmful to the environment. Special attention should be paid to the pollution of surface water, soil, atmosphere and drinking water.
